Made from the most striking parcels of Chardonnay from the vintage, recognised for its innovative winemaking and distinguishing 'Heytesbury' character.
VINTAGE DESCRIPTION
Another text-book vintage in Margaret River with consistent, almost rhythmic temperature patterns throughout the ripening season, resulting in excellent balance and physiological ripeness of fruit. Reasonable yields were obtained despite a handful of blocks being exposed to heavy storms in Spring reducing their cropping potential, but overall quality is excellent. Chardonnay has intensity and balance, and particularly good natural acidity.
#2 - The Most Exciting Wines of 2017
An expressive, reductive style revealing aromas of buttery ripe apple and melon, intense with a wisp of autumnal smoke. Oatmeal and lemon pith meld with orange box characters, lemon oil and roasted almond notes. There is persistence here, which will see it through for some years to come. Drink 2018-2026 Alc 13%
97 Points
This is insane with such density but electric energy. Stone, chalk, and dried apple and lemon character. Full body, tight and intense. Metal shavings. Fascinating. Love the finish. Screw cap.
98 points - White Wine of the Year
Now firmly established as one of the great chardonnays of Margaret River. Wow. Where do you start. Toasty minerally notes on the nose with hints of light stone fruit, vanilla bean and an edgy ginger and grapefruit-like mix. The palate is defined by deeply intense precise fruit which drives with penetrating power through to a very long finish. This is chardonnay of the highest order.
