This wine is made primarily from the oldest Shiraz vines in Margaret River and is fermented in small batches and matured in French barriques. Margaret River Shiraz is a delicate and structured style with elegance and finesse.
VINTAGE DESCRIPTION
Another text-book vintage in Margaret River with consistent, almost rhythmic temperature patterns throughout the ripening season, resulting in excellent balance and physiological ripeness of fruit. Reasonable yields were obtained despite a handful of blocks being exposed to heavy storms in Spring reducing their cropping potential, but overall quality is excellent.

Vasse Felix is best known for its cabernets yet it has some great old-vine shiraz and with the result you get wines like this. Clearly one of the best they have made in a distinguished line of shiraz over the years. Aromatics with dusty savoury plum and a sprinkle of earth with grainy chewy tannins balancing the fruit.
92 Points
There's no doubt shiraz deserves its place in the warmer parts of Margaret River, even if it were to limit the opportunities for new cabernet plantings. This medium-bodied wine is supple, long and well balanced, with black cherry fruits to the fore, backed by spicy, savoury tannins and a waft of oak.
Complex and Restrained
Margaret River Shiraz offers gentle fruit characters, a juicy palate and soft, textured tannins with refreshing natural acidity. This is the signature Shiraz of Vasse Felix and made primarily from the Estate's 1967 Shiraz vines.
